General provisions

1. Permittee shall submit permit at least 48 hours prior to movement.
2. The granting of this permit does not guarantee that the load described can be moved without damage to the pavement or structures although the permit is granted on the assumption that the load can be moved without damage based on the best information available. The permittee will be held liable for any such damage caused by the movement. The County assumes no responsibility for damage to the permittee's equipment or load being moved due to any such failure.
3. The permittee agrees to hold Pickaway County and the Pickaway County Engineer harmless from all claims, damages or proceedings of any kind, and from all responsibility for personal or property damages (public or private) caused directly or indirectly as a result of the transportation of said vehicle(s) or object(s).
4. NO vehicle(s) or object(s) in excess of the legal limits prescribed by law shall be permitted on the highway on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays and no movement shall be started that cannot be completed before sunset on Friday or the day preceding a holiday.
5. The permit shall be in the possession of the driver at all times during progress of transportation and will be shown on demand to any Law Enforcement Officer or employee of the County Engineer.
6. NO vehicle(s) or object(s) being transported under special highway permit shall be left parked on the roadway either day or night except in case of an emergency, in which case adequate protection shall be provided for the traveling public. The vehicle(s) shall not be loaded or unloaded within the traveled limits on the highway without special written permission from the Pickaway County Engineer.
7. Movements under this Special Hauling Permit shall be made during daylight hours only and in such a manner as to impede to the least possible extent the normal highway traffic. Flagger shall be furnished by the permittee to protect and direct traffic when necessary due to limited sight distance or other hazards. Any possible detour costs to be paid by Mover in advance.
8. All construction equipment and other machinary shall have attached thereto a plate showing the manufacturer's name and the model.
9. In the case of non-compliance with the provisions of this permit, same shall immediately be considered void and the operator of the vehicle will be subject to law enforcement.
10. The operator of the vehicle must comply with all laws, rules, or regulations covering the movement of traffic over highways and roads.
11. The permission granted restricts the movement of the vehicle(s) or object(s) to the highways specified between the points designated, and within the time allotted.
12. Permits will not be granted for built up loads that are divisible into legal loads.
13. The maximum axle weights for which a permit will be issued are, in general, for a single axle 32,000 pounds and for a daul axle 40,000 pounds. However, if vehicles with axles of these weights would likely cause damage to the highways or structures the loads must be reduced so the move can be made without such damage. The maximum height, width, and length of vehicles or comibinations for which a permit will be issued will be determined by the clearances of structured or other obstructions and by the extent that a vehicle or combination with such dimensions would interfere with or endanger normal traffic on the routes traveled.
14. If required by the Engineer, the permittee shall supply a bond or other surety in a form satisfactory to the Engineer to cover costs of any damages resulting from the permittee's activity. The amount of the bond or surety shall be determined by the Engineer.
