’The mission of the Office of the Pickaway County Dog Warden is for the enforcement division to equitably enforce Chapter 955 of the Ohio Revised Code to ensure that the residents of Pickaway County are protected from injury and damages caused by dogs and the shelter division to provide compassionate care for impounded dogs in the Pickaway County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center while reuniting lost dogs with their families and rehoming unclaimed adoptable dogs

We enforce chapter 955 of the Ohio Revised Code. During normal business hours we run Stray Dog calls, pick ups, Dog Bite Investigations, Livestock kills involving dogs, License Checks.
All dogs 3 months of age are required to be license in Ohio. A dog license is your legal form of ownership. Failure to have a license can result in a citation-Unclassified Misdemeanor offense.
A Dog license will also secure that if your dog is displaying one, will provide a ride home and your furry companion will not come to the shelter and will save you money.

Our staff works hard to match dogs with loving families. Adoption fees help cover shelter care and veterinary services. Contact the shelter for current availability and adoption requirements.
