The Pickaway County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is established under the 5502 chapter of the Ohio Revised Code and is under the authority of the Board of County Commissioners. The Emergency Management Agency assists with protecting Pickaway County communities by coordinating and integrating the activities necessary to build, sustain and improve local capabilities to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters whether they are natural or man-made.
The Pickaway County EMA supports first responders, elected officials, jurisdiction leaders, and other partners in a disaster through coordination of resources, streamlining communication, administrative services, and overseeing recovery efforts.
The Pickaway County EMA office oversees other programs in the county such as 800MHz (radio communications), 911, and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) also known as the Tier II or hazardous chemicals program. We are also involved in other efforts such as the county Healthcare Coalition and the new Targeted Violence & Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) group.
