Our commitment
Pickaway County is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone, including individuals with disabilities. We are continuously working to improve the user experience for all visitors and apply the relevant accessibility standards to achieve an inclusive online environment.
We are actively promoting accessibility and striving to make reasonable accommodation where possible. Our goal is to ensure that all users can access the information, services, and resources available on our website.
Standard we work to
We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard adopted by the United States Department of Justice for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
That means, among other things: every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, text meets minimum contrast ratios, images carry text alternatives, forms have labels their assistive technology can read, page structure uses real headings and landmarks, and nothing depends on color alone to convey meaning.
Requesting an alternate format
If any information on this site is not accessible to you, we will provide it in another format at no charge. That includes large print, plain text, electronic files you can read with your own software, or having a staff member read a document to you over the phone or in person. Tell us which format works for you and we will accommodate it.
You do not need to explain why you need it, and you do not need to use a particular form of words to ask.
Known limitations
We would rather tell you where the gaps are than claim there are none.
- Older PDF documents. Some documents published before this site was rebuilt are scans or plotter output and cannot be read aloud by a screen reader. We are converting the forms residents use most into web pages that can be filled in and printed. If you need any PDF in an accessible format, contact us and we will provide one.
- Printed reference maps. The GIS department publishes large-format maps as PDFs for printing. These cannot practically be tagged for screen readers. The interactive web maps are the accessible equivalent, and GIS staff will read map information to you or supply the underlying data on request.
- Third-party services. Some services we link to or embed are operated by other organizations, including the county's mapping viewers, the Nixle alert service, and online payment providers. We do not control their accessibility. If one of them blocks you, contact us and we will help you complete the task another way.
- Documents from other agencies. Legal notices, bid documents and court filings sometimes arrive from outside parties in formats we cannot alter. We will provide the content in an accessible format on request.
If something is not accessible
Contact us and tell us what you were trying to do, which page you were on, and what happened. You do not need to identify the technical problem.
We welcome your feedback and suggestions as we continue to enhance the accessibility of our digital content. Your input helps us identify areas for improvement and better serve all members of our community.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
