Roy Starner is a 13-year employee with Pickaway County and works in the Custodial department. Roy worked in factories for about 14 years and said he wanted a change, so he chose to apply to work for the County. While at work he loves being able to interact with a number of other county employees and visit different buildings, which is a great change of pace from being stuck in one building while working in factories. When Roy isn’t at work, he loves collecting different types of antiques such as glassware, music memorabilia, Native American artifacts, and furniture. He also loves spending time with his friends & family and doing work around his home.
The two most memorable places that Roy has visited are Tennessee where he loves to vacation with his family, and Michigan, where he would go watch NASCAR races and live for the roar of the engines speeding past him and his friends. While Roy is constantly moving while at work, he does stress that even just getting up and going for a walk is one of the best and easiest ways to get some exercise in, especially for those who work office or desk jobs. The best piece of advice Roy has been given, is to treat others the way that you want to be treated because that respect goes a very long way, something we can all agree with.
